Sable Sands Lodge is owned and run by Brian and Marleen. The Sable Sand concession, located on a private wildlife reserve along the well-known Dete vlei, has a 7 km stretch of a dried river bed with multiple waterholes.
Situated close to the Hwange National Park, wildlife wanders freely between the vlei and the park. Game drives are available on the concession, which includes a variety of habitats and the Park, which has an entry fee. Night drives are available on the Sable Sands concession.
Sable accommodation consists of 11 spacious thatched rondavels sited in a grove of large trees. Rondavels have either netted double or netted twin beds and 9 have en-suite bathrooms with showers, 2 also have baths.
Located overlooking a pan, Sable Sands Lodge sits just within the shady tree line and consists of a stunning thatched structure housing the lounge/dining room.
Watch the panoramic vlei and pan with ever-changing herds of elephant, zebra, buffalo and antelope species. Predators are regularly observed with lion, cheetah, wild dog and hyena being the most common. Leopard is an infrequent visitor.
