Resting on top of low foothills in the far northwest of Hwange National Park is Daka Plains Camp, an owner run private camp – probably one of the remotest camps in Hwange!
We are offering our guests an opportunity to walk and game drive in some of the wildest and diverse areas in Southern Africa. Daka Plains is in close proximity to Botswana, has sweeping views out towards the Makgadikgadi and overlooks this magical Kalahari eco-system.
Co-owners Mike Thorne and Professional Guide Ian Batchelor have partnered on an exciting and dynamic new venture to manage Daka Plains Camp and this unique private concession. Both Ian and Mike are very cogniscent of the historical value and unique past that his area of Hwange holds.
Big sky country sums up this very diverse area with its unique range of habitat and wildlife. The camp overlooks the springs that form the headwaters of the Deka River. A critical watershed area that was known to the early explorers and pioneers as a source of clean, permanent water remains as such today!
Daka Plains Camp
The style of the camp is a blend of local rock, canvas, and thatch roofs.
The rooms cater to all requirements, including hot and cold running water, flush toilets, the finest quality linen, and comfortable beds that can be made into either twins or kings depending on request.
Sit back and relax on your own private deck, looking down over the Deka Valley and enjoy our pool area.
Daka Plains Camp Facilities
Each room has a spacious draped mosquito net, a fan above the bed, coffee and tea stand, small lock up safe, bathrobes, and 220v plug points for charging phones and cameras. If you require a special adaptor, we recommend bringing it with you.
A laundry facility is provided, as are luggage racks from the original Victoria Falls Hotel. At the foot of the bed, you will find a lockable wooden chest. There is adequate shelving and hangers for all your safari gear and clothing.
